Astronomy Night
Thursday August 1, 2024 @ 8:30 pm - 10:30 pm
FreeCome for fellowship and learn about the stars in the sky above our lakes at the second annual “Astronomy Night” happening on Thursday, August 1st on Big Hawk Lake. (rain date Friday August 2nd) Presenter Julia Smith will share her love for and fascination with the summer stars and planets. This is a free, family friendly event perfect for anyone fascinated with our brilliant night skies.
Come by boat or car to The Henderson’s at 1097 Lil’s Lane, off Big Hawk Lake Road (the private road) right by Scott’s Point on Big Hawk. The event will start at 8:30pm, so plan to arrive between 8pm and 8:30pm.
There is a big beach to pull up your boat and two small docks (although shallow water), and lots of flat land behind the cottage to park cars.
Bring a lawn chair, beach towel or blanket for star-gazing, as well as your binoculars and a telescope if you have them. A flashlight for when you leave would also be beneficial, but let’s keep our skies dark for this event. Don’t forget the bug spray.
Pre-registration is requested so that we can calculate numbers for refreshments, as well as inform you of a weather postponement. Register online here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/astronomy-night-tickets-926863623047?aff=oddtdtcreator
