Volunteers needed for the “Abandoned Docks” removal on Little Hawk Lake Aug. 17th

This event will be the second step in removing trash in the form of abandoned docks from the shores of Big & Little Hawk Lakes.  Docks targeted for removal have already been tagged by our volunteers and we will be focused on Little Hawk Lake this year.

We will start at 9:00am rain or shine. We will meet at the Landing at Little Hawk and split up from there to gather up the docks.

The plan is to drag them down to the landing and load them onto trailers to take down the road to Dennis’s Krista’s Baits and Bites. Dennis and Craig have volunteered their services to look after them from there. This will save our lake association $1000’s of dollars compared to renting a bin and hauling them to the landfill site. We are very grateful for their support on this.

So we will need:

A few trailers and vehicles to draw them down the road.

Boats to haul them down the lake

In some spots hip waders and pry bars to move them

Possibly a chain saw or two to break some down

Jon Williams has generously offered to have a BBQ at his beach after we are done. Wives/husbands/partners welcome. Jon and Ann are suppling the food but you can bring your own beverage if you wish.

If you know of anyone else who would like to lend a hand please let me know so we can include them on the list. We can use all the help we can get. If we don’t get it all done on Saturday we may try to finish up on Sunday.

Please contact Ken Comrie for more information and to volunteer for this clean up at kencomrie7@gmail.com

Please bring safety shoes, work gloves & eye protection – flip flops will not be accepted!
