A mid-week photography challenge just for kids

The Kids Photo Challenge is an exclusive opportunity for all school-aged children (5-18) on Wednesday August 10th, 9:30am-2pm at the Big Hawk Log Chute Park.  They’ll learn a lot about photography, have a chance to win some terrific prizes and will spend the day appreciating nature at a spectacular local spot.

Cameras and instruction will be provided by The Roberta Bondar Foundation for a small fee. You must pre-register your kids for this event – register online here.

Did you know that Dr. Roberta Bondar is not only Canada’s first female astronaut, but she is also a world-class photographer?  Her non-profit foundation has worked with schools and summer camps for over a decade and the Halls Hawk Lakes is the first lake association to have this opportunity.

Parents you will no doubt learn a thing or two about photography as well when you accompany your child for this Photo Challenge Day.  Bring a lunch, sun screen, bug spray, water bottle. The incredible top prize is from the Puzzle Factory in Haliburton.  There are also Kawartha Dairy coupons, plus lots of other prizes.

Check out the Bondar Challenge Winners from EcoSchools Canada this past year.  Notice the 11-14 year old group has a very thoughtful and passionate winner from the Haliburton Highlands.

Winner’s statement “I took this picture of a bee, because I am concerned we may not see them 150 years from now.”
