Congratulations to Ron Chmara, the winner of our 2025 ice out competition. “Ice Out” was formally called at 9:45am today, April 26 by Sabrina Richards (Big Hawk Marina). Remember, in order to call “ice out”, the ice needs to be completely gone from the lake, even in the back bays. Thank you Sabrina and team who braved the pouring rain to make this call.
While really the glory is in being the person who was best able to read the signs this year and make the lucky “ice out” guess, we’ve also got some prizes donated by our neighbours on the Hawk Lakes. Haliburton County Snowmobile Association has donated a hat and gloves, Ross Rawlings has once again woven a scarf, Rock Maple Lodge is donating maple syrup, and the Dadzis family will donate a bottle of wine.
