Any loon lovers out there?

HHLPOA has signed up to be part of the Canadian Lakes Loon Survey through Birds Canada. This initiative has been in place since 1981 and invites volunteers to track common loon breeding by monitoring chick hatching and survival. Through this program we will track loon health on the three lakes and river, and we need volunteers to support with the monitoring.

It’s a very light lift and includes three visits to monitor nesting areas:

• Mid-June to mid-July to determine nesting

• Mid-July to monitor hatching

• Mid-August to monitor chick survival

It requires a few hours out in your boat or kayak with a minimal amount of paperwork to submit to the study. This can be done by a couple of people on each lake but the data would be submitted by one person. Please email alison.king@mediaprofile.com if you can help.
