Ken Cox, Southern Region Fire Advisor with Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources, has reached out to offer up to six Wildland Fire Advanced Home Assessments for property owners on Halls, Big Hawk or Little Hawk Lakes, plus on Kennisis River or in our area. Many of us have met Ken before, as he spoke at an HHLPOA webinar last spring, presented at our AGM in 2023 and he has frequently come to our AGMs in order to help advise us on the FireSmart program.
A Wildland Fire Advanced Home Assessment would be done by members of the Wildlands Fire Mitigation and Management Team. They will visit your property and make specific recommendations for actions you can take to increase the resiliency of your property to wildfire. You don’t even need to be there, but they do need to be able to access your property! They have assured us that their recommendations and the homeowners report are confidential.
